Projects
Sept. 2021 - June 2025
Engaged in a comprehensive design process from problem definition to a validated design proposal to develop an in-home mobility aid that helps individuals with fluctuating mobility to maintain their health.
Led prototype fabrication plans and budgeting, visual communication of designs via CAD and 3D renders, and client-testing to collect feedback for design iterations.
Sharpened the 5-person team’s overall design quality by incorporating human-centered principles in the product’s aesthetic and ergonomic design, becoming 1 of 2 recipients of the Inclusive Teamwork Award at UW’s Mechanical Engineering Capstone Expo
Sept. 2021 - June 2025
Redesigned a system to determine appropriate insurance coverage for lower-limb prosthetics to improve equity in the post-surgery rehabilitation process.
Synthesized information from a prosthetist interview, literature reviews of patient surveys, and insurance coverage policy documents to evaluate the real-world feasibility of concepts.
Developed a system that provides standardized tests and scores for physical capabilities while providing room for the physician to exercise their professional judgement to accommodate special circumstances.
Sept. 2021 - June 2025
Drove the end-to-end development of custom 3D-printed table lamps from concept generation to product launch.
Used Rhino and SolidWorks to integrate electrical components such as wires, bulbs, and switches into an aesthetic form.
Learned the basics of 3D printing to iterate and refine components for ease of assembly and packing efficiency.
Sept. 2021 - June 2025
Modeled the dynamics of a 4-DOF half-car suspension system using Lagrangian mechanics to simulate the vertical oscillation amplitude of the driver when travelling over rumble strips.
Implemented Python script to derive parametrized equations of motion (SymPy), solve a system of ODEs (SciPy, NumPy), and compare dynamics of multiple vehicle configurations over different rumble strip profiles (Matplotlib).
Sept. 2021 - June 2025
Developed and 3D printed a 4-DOF robotic manipulator that can be controlled remotely via a web server.
Designed linkages that minimize torque on servo motors and verified compatibility through a CAD assembly with proper constraints to fit servo motors, ball bearings, and fasteners.
Used Arduino IDE to host a web server through an ESP32 microcontroller, created an html page to remotely interface with the manipulator, and wrote Python scripts to translate user input into mechanical motion.
